Defaulting to factory settings is useful if the printer is not functioning as expected or is exhibiting calibration/setup issues.
This is true if an external configuration from your application or driver has unexpectedly rendered the printer inoperable.
A user should always print or record the existing configurations as a backup before defaulting.
