Applicable ToZT Series, ZD Series, QLn -Series, and iMZ - Series Printers
Resolution / Answer

End Of Service Life (EOSL) Zebra will no longer provide services or support for iMZ220 and iMZ320 Mobile Printers. This knowledge article is for your reference only and is no longer proactively updated. For more details, refer to Discontinued Printers. If you are interested to upgrade your products, Contact Zebra.

Intellifonts
Many of the older printers are able to use Intellifont (.FNT, .ZSS) fonts as well as TrueType fonts (.TTF). However, the Intellifont engine has been removed with the introduction of the ZT Series and therefore newer printers are only able to support .TTF type fonts.

The ZPL commands Intellifont uses for font download are ~DS and ~DT.
Can I convert my FNT to a TTF format?
You cannot convert .FNT to a .TTF formatted file and therefore the original source must be used that created a .FNT to convert it into a Zebra .TTF format.

(This takes a TTF file and puts a Zebra code wrapper around it to make the printer understand the filename and memory location for the font on the printer)

How To Convert the Font
If you have the original TTF file you can use ZebraNet Bridge (free from www.zebra.com) to easily convert the font into a Zebra formatted TTF file, then download it within a few clicks onto the printer for temporary or permanent storing.

Do I have to Change my Legacy Coding?
As long as you place a .TTF font in the printer memory location with the same name there should be no modifications required.

Example - Existing file is called Arial.fnt, the new file is called Arial.ttf
The printer will look for Arial.fnt (as per your legacy script) and if it cannot find it, it will automatically search for the same name but with a .ttf extension (Arial.ttf). This allows compatibility with your existing legacy code. Just ensure the file on the printer has the same name.
