Video: Manually Calibrate Ribbon and Media Sensors on ZT230 Printer

Watch this step-by-step video to learn how to manually calibrate the ribbon and media sensors on the ZT230 Industrial Printer. 

If the printer fails to detect the media size correctly, you may have to manually calibrate the ribbon and media sensors. 

Calibration is not required if the label stops at the tear-off point between two labels, and when you press FEED,  one label feeds to the next tear-off. 

Calibration of the printer will not resolve an issue where it stops correctly at the tear-off point and can feed one label at a time. Still, the print is being shifted Up/Down or Left/Right from where it should be printed on the label, and this issue requires a print driver or ZPL adjustment to correct the shifted print.

Procedure:

1. Press the Home key. Press a right arrow key to move to the Tools icon.
2. Press  OK.
3. Press the right arrow until you get to Media Ribbon Calibration.
4. Press Start.
5. Pull out the media and remove approximately 6 inches or 150 mm of labels from a liner.
6. Rotate the gold printhead lever up to open the printhead.
7. Roll media back to the printer so that only the backing is between media sensors.
8. Move the ribbon to the right, away from sensors. 
9. Close the printhead. Press Pause to begin media calibration.
10. You will see the message: Calibrating, please wait.
11. Wait until the process is complete and the display changes to Reload All.
12. Open the printhead, and straighten the ribbon.
13. Turn the ribbon spindle to the right to remove the ribbon slack.
14. Pull the media forward until the label is positioned under the media sensor.
15. Close the printhead and press Pause.
16. Press Home twice.
17. Press Pause to enable printing.
18. The printer is ready to print.
