ZT411 and ZT421 'Ribbon Out' Error

In thermal transfer mode:

• Ribbon is not loaded.

• Ribbon is loaded incorrectly.

• Ribbon sensor is not detecting the ribbon.

• The media is blocking the ribbon sensor.

1. Load ribbon correctly. Refer to ZT411 & ZT421 Ribbon Loading.

2. Calibrate the printer.
Refer to ZT411 & ZT421 Ribbon & Media Sensor Manual Calibration.

In thermal transfer mode, the printer did not detect the ribbon even though it was loaded correctly.

Calibrate the printer (refer to ZT411 & ZT421 Ribbon & Media Sensor Manual Calibration) or restore printer defaults by touching the Menu > System > Settings > Restore Defaults > Restore Printer.

If you use direct thermal media, the printer waits for the ribbon to be loaded because it is incorrectly set for thermal transfer mode.
Check if your settings on the printer match settings in the driver or printing application.

Set the printer for Direct Thermal mode. Refer to Print > Print Quality > Print Type for more information.
