Issue / QuestionDownloading fonts to a printer using the Zebra Setup Utilities.
How do I download the Zebra Font Downloader?
Applicable ToZebra Printers using ZDesigner driver v.5, excluding ZQ110, EM220, and EM220II.
Resolution / Answer
NOTE This guide is for ZDesigner V5 for legacy printers. For ZDesigner V8, refer to Downloading Windows Fonts to a Printer via ZDesigner V8.

If you want to print using a specific font with ZebraDesigner, select the font from the list, and create the label. The driver converts fields into graphic ZPL code, producing the expected results on the label.

Licensing Note: Fonts are copyright-protected and require licensing. Check with your provider for details.

Use the Zebra Setup Utilities to convert and download fonts to your Zebra printer and recall them later when printing labels.

For full details, refer to User Guide: ZebraDesigner Fonts and Graphics Downloader.

Procedure:

  1. Download and install Zebra Setup Utilities. Open Zebra Setup Utilities and select your printer. Click Download Fonts and Graphics.

NOTE If using V8, the UI is different. Refer to Downloading Windows Fonts to a Printer via ZDesigner V8.

  1. From the Memory Card Slot drop-down list, select the memory device on the printer where you want to store the font:
  • Select Flash memory (E: drive) for permanent storage.
  • DRAM (R: drive) is volatile and deletes data after reboot.
Create a memory card configuration file (.mmf) by selecting the New icon.

  1. Enter the filename and save the file.

  2. Enter an optional description and select card size based on the font.
  1. Your font memory card will be listed in the Memory Card File selection. Select Font, select Add, and select to download all or selected characters.

  2. Select the required font and click Select.

  3. Review the Font Data and click OK.

  4. If you've selected to download only Selected Characters, you will see the Characters button in the bottom left corner.

  5. If selecting specific characters, move them from Available to Selected. E.g., only capital letters.

  6. Click Yes to download the font to the printer.

  7. Review and agree to the font's license agreement to complete the download.

IMPORTANT! If you get the error "There is not enough free space on the memory card to download," you must increase the card size before attempting to download again.
